Kids have so much fun at home, but not so much when they’re bogged down by homework.
But it doesn’t have to be it that way.
Learning can be made fun and enjoyable if parents knew how they can turn their children’s playtime into learning time.
One brilliant way to make the learning process fun is by using toys. The toy market is extremely vast and diversified than any time before, and what’s even great is these days there are learning toys for everything.
Whether you kid wants to learn the basic of biology, hone their vocabulary skills, or improve their math skills and replace his or her math tutor (no pun intended!), there are toys that can meet the intellectual demands and development of the child. Contrary to public perception, toys that are geared towards educational purposes can be fun too.
As more governments around the world are encouraging students to pursue their education in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math), the toy industry has stepped its game to develop more toys that will assist and capitalize on the students hoping to study in these fields.
Organizing and Storing Toys
Speaking of toys, if you’ve kids then we don’t need to remind you that it can become really annoying and in some cases dangerous when toys are scattered all over the whole house.
You need to organize the toys in a proper way for your child’s safety and for a mess-free home.
So unless you live in a place with unlimited space, you need to get creative to organize and store their “stuff”.
But how do you do it?
Well, that is what I’m going to discuss in this piece. Here we will cover some ingenious ideas on how to organize and store toys in a way that won’t cost you a fortune and still make your abode clean and nice.
Let’s get started!
1. Bathtub Toys Organizer
Kids like to fool around in the bathroom. So, if you’re annoyed of cleaning the tub all the time because of all of the toys that keep falling all over your head, then you may need to check out this bathtub toys organizer.
It is also on the cheap side and all you need is shower curtain rod, zip ties, and a few berry plastic crates. Simply connect them to the side of your bathtub and store all your kids’ things there.
2. Matchbox Car Garage
Little boys love matchbox cars. But storing them can get out of hand if your boys collect a lot of them. This creative, DIY car garage is a great way to ‘park’ these small cars as well as store other toys. Also, making one is simple and cheap too.
3. Stuffed Top Animal Storage
If your child likes to play with stuffed animals, then this is really a great idea to store them. If you like to garden then this ingenious technique will make you feel at home. All you need to do is to fetch all those unused hanging flower baskets, paint them in nice colors and hang them from your kid’s room ceiling. Now you can store all their stuffed animals and other toys in it.
4. Magnetic Toy Rack
This is another ingenious way to store your boys’ matchbox cars. If you don’t have the time to build a DIY matchbox car garage we mentioned above, then you may like this idea. This storage idea uses a magnetic knife rack that can be mounted on a wall. The magnet will keep the toys cars in position.
5. In-Wall Toy Drawers
This toy storage solution may be suitable for everyone as these drawers are built into the wall. However, if you’ve some extra space to space in front of the wall, you can make this work. Nonetheless, this storage solution is highly functional and looks great in most homes.
6. The Nerf Gun Wall
Nerf makes good toy guns that kids love. If your kids like playing with Nerf guns, then you’ll like this wall. It is basically a peg board that is transformed to hold Nerf guns and all its accessories. It is also inexpensive and makes your child’s room fun and lively too.
7. Rain Gutter Book Shelves
If your children love books, but don’t have a cool book shelf to keep their books, then you’re doing an injustice to them. You can make a pretty inexpensive and simple bookshelf with rain gutters like the one in the picture by yourself.
8. Covered Kids Parking Garage
Storing your kids 4 wheelers, 3 wheelers, bicycles, scooters, and other outdoor toys may not be easy if you don’t have a garage, or if you don’t have additional space in the garage to park them. But that doesn’t mean that your kids can have a garage for their toys.
This is DIY garage idea is something you can easily set up in your yard.
9. Under the Bed Train Table
The space under the bed makes a perfect storage area for all of our stuff. Even better for kids who like to play with toy trains or anything that requires setting up tracks to play.
It is, basically, a rolling surface that has a storage space for trains and cars as well an additional surface for the tracks.
10. Plastic Containers
This one is a no-brainer. People have been using plastic containers or various sizes and shapes to store and organize every item imaginable. In schools, teachers use plastic containers store and organize cue cards and board games. You can use plastic containers at home to store your kid’s toys.
Don’t forget to glue a label on the top of the container so you or your child can find what inside in each of them.
11. Dress Up Closets
If your kids love playing dress up, then you might consider giving this idea a try. This is basically a mini closet where they’ll be able to store all their dress-up gear and accessories that go with the costumes. Gift your kids with this arrangement and they won’t mess up with your REAL closet!
12. Barbie Doll Organizer
Girls love Barbie’s and dolls in general! And they aren’t happy with one or two. They want the whole collection. So, you need to make some space in your girls’ room to store all of them. Instead of putting them in a large storage tub, place them in a shoe organizer and dangle them on a wall or door. Not only this a nice idea, it will also take less space than storage tubs.
13. Hanging Bed Organizer
Kids like all sorts of things with them when they go to bed—small toys, cards, books, you name it. But when they fall asleep, the toys end in the bed, on the floor, or under the blanket or the bed. You can put an end to this mess by mounting a hanging bed organizer on one of the bed so nothing gets lost—again.
14. Game Boards Storage Wall Art
We all enjoy playing board games, but when it comes to storing game boards neatly, things turn a little sour. One of the reasons is that they simply take too much space. However, there is a way to make things less troublesome by hanging the boards on the wall like pieces of art. Put the board pieces in a small bag and attach them to the back of the board. If you use this idea, you can finally say adios to those irritating boxes.
15. Galvanized Toy Bucket
So you don’t have much storage space in your kid’s room and you also don’t like the idea of hanging toys on your walls. Well, for you there is a simple solution. Collect a galvanized toy bucket and put all the toys in it.
16. Pull Out Storage
Drawers are great not only to store or organize your clothes or office files; they also make great storage areas. Just remember to label each drawer so your child and you too, know what goes where.
17. Stuffed Animal Zoo
Your kids will love this cute stuffed animal zoo. Just make a tiny zoo cage and put all your children’s stuffed animals and other toys in it. But you may want to tell your kids to put their toys away in the zoo after they’re done with them. Just tell them that their furry friends will be much safer in the zoo than in the open. That will do it.
18. Hidden Toy Storage
This particular toy storage arrangement is for outdoors and I’m sure many of you would love this idea. You can stuff all of your kids’ toys into the toy box, close it and no one would be able to tell the difference.
19. Under the Bed
This is pretty obvious so we didn’t mention it at the beginning. Many beds including the bunk bed in your children room has probably had space underneath it, though it may not be too much. Still, the underneath of the beds are great places to store toys.
Final Thoughts
Having children around is a lot of fun, but it is necessary to teach them from a young age that it is important to keep their rooms and playing areas clean and organized.
Giving them a space to store and organize their stuff is a great way to ensure that this will try to make it happen.
I hope these toy storage ideas help you out!
